Republic Of Pie

I'm a fan of pie and if a merchant can make that their primary offering, I'm hoping it works for both of us.

My first visit I had a slice of blueberry pie and coffee. The coffee was good, but the pie was surprisingly bad. The crust of the pie was good, but the filling was terrible, it was  gritty and seemed to have frozen berries. I know other places use frozen fruit in their pies and if it's good, I don't mind. This was not good and for $5.25 they're serving a smaller than average slice of pie for higher than the average price. I was shocked at how bad this pie was it honestly seemed like I'd had a frozen pie that thawed with the crust cooked.

I thought something as bad as that had to be a fluke and gave them another chance. After all, I do like the atmosphere and the fact that it's in Noho where I live. I returned and had the quiche, which was excellent. So I feel like there was a bit of redemption there. I'm not sure if I will risk such disappointment on the blueberry or other fruit pies again and I'd be curious to know what others thought of them.
